Gretta Skodis (Atkinson)

Greta passed away on March 29th from complications from surgery she had a few weeks ago for pancreatic cancer. She was recovering well but had unexpected problems a week ago.

Gretta Lee (Skodis) Atkinson, age 64 of Lodi, OH passed away March 29, 2012.
She was born April 7, 1947 in Berea to the late Joseph and Wilma Skodis. Gretta died of complications arising from pancreatic cancer surgery and was surrounded by her family.
Gretta grew up in Berea where she attended high school. She received a degree in Education from Ohio University in 1969. After college, she married, taught kindergarten in Ohio and New Jersey, and started a family. Prior to moving back to Ohio, Gretta lived in Norfolk, MA for 20 years where she raised her sons. She moved back to Ohio and spent the past 13 years in Lodi and was currently planning her retirement from Envision Waste Services in Seville.
Gretta always lived life to the fullest. She cherished spending time with her family and traveling with her sisters, especially their trips to the beach. She had a passion for the Ohio State University Buckeyes football team.
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Linda) Atkinson
Brett Atkinson
Grandchildren, Katie and Morgan Atkinson
Sister, Kathleen Krisko
Nieces, Kellie (John) Cooney
Amy (Patrick) Donnelly
Julie (Jim) Stephens
Many grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister Jo Lyn Skodis and her brother-in-law Joseph Krisko.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Prisms (www.prisms.org) or forwarded to Kathy Krisko, 577 Oakwood Dr., Lodi, OH 44254, in Gretta's memory.
